"Of course, the wretched mass of our fellow citizens today will never understand this. They will merely laugh or shrug their hunched shoulders and proclaim their eternal excuse: “Yes, that would be all well and good, but it cannot be done!” Of course, nothing can be done with people like you! Your world is not suited for it! You know only one concern: your own personal life, and only one god whom you have created for yourselves: money!"

A national revolution, which wishes to return Romania to its ethnic original, would turn Romania away from modernity. By returning it to its sources, it becomes a historical zero again. The sustained fever of modernization, on all planes, is our only salvation.

The philosopher, as Olympiodorus says, seeks death, namely the separation of the soul from the body. This Alexandrian Neoplatonist claims that "preparation for death is not an end in itself... the real goal is being dead. For the same reason 'dying' is different from 'being dead'; the one who seeks purification and prepares himself for death 'dies', in other words, he cleanses himself of the affects, whereas thinking is already 'dead', because it is freed from the affects, and therefore it does not make dying its aim”. To be dead is to be like Osiris, who waits to be united with Ra ba, whose unity in the Duat belongs to the integrated philosophical life. Philosophising in the Osirian underworld necessitates the use of knowledge, which is necessary for the alchemical transformation that is required to become a vindicated and maakheru.

I tried to understand every political orientation, and in doing so discovered that there were just as many, perhaps even more, fanatical, self-sacrificing idealists in the Red camp as on the other side. Added to this was the utterly distressing realization of the great social pauperization and bondage of the working classes in all professions. I had become a socialist, in other words. Not a socialist out of emotion, like so many from the bourgeois camp, but a socialist, above all, out of reason.

"In Asia there will be a great State from the Pacific and Indian Oceans to the shore of the Volga. The wise religion of Buddha shall run to the north and the west. It will be the victory of the spirit. A conqueror and leader will appear stronger and more stalwart than Jenghiz Khan and Ugadai. He will be more clever and more merciful than Sultan Baber and he will keep power in his hands until the happy day when, from his subterranean capital, shall emerge the King of the World."

I never said or thought that different traditions had to or even could merge or assimilate in any way whatsoever, even in their theoretical part. All that is possible and desirable, is a common understanding on a certain ground. This cannot be disputed when one admits that, the truth being one, it is possible to establish equivalences between its various modes of expression. I would further add that communication between various traditional doctrines, under conditions which do not detract from their independence, can only be effectuated from above. Perhaps you have already said that; unfortunately it is not possible for me currently to explain myself as clearly as I would like, especially as it would be very difficult, I fear, to find qualified individuals capable of taking the initiative of an effective rapprochement such as the one I am thinking of. Ultimately, this may come. Never despair.

The parties on the right soon noticed that they couldn’t count on the NSDAP, and they called us National Bolsheviks or National Marxists because of our socialist posture. In fact they were correct. For the National Socialists in general had more sympathy for the Red Front Fighters’ League than for the Stahlhelm … I tried to understand all the parties, and it finally dawned on me that in the red camp there were just as many—perhaps even more, fanatical idealists ripe for martyrdom than on the other side. Added to that was the whole shocking realization of the unbelievable delusion and abuse of the entire working class. And that’s how I became a socialist.

Falangists reject any materialist interpretation of history; for them, the spirit is the source of all truly decisive force—a point hardly worth belaboring. A profession of the Catholic faith is equally natural; historically speaking, the Catholic interpretation of life is the only one that is truly 'Spanish,' for all efforts at national reconstruction must be grounded in it. This does not imply a Spain that must once again endure the interference, intrigues, and hegemony of ecclesiastical power, but rather a new Spain—animated by that 'Catholic and universal spirit' that once guided it 'against the alliance of the ocean and barbarism, toward the conquest of unknown continents': a Spain permeated by the religious forces of the spirit. Falangists fight for these ideals as 'volunteer warriors' destined to 'conquer Spain for Spain.'

In addition, the World Soul possesses by divine power precisely as many seminal reasons of things as there are Ideas in the Divine Mind. By these seminal reasons she fashions the same number of species in matter. That is why every single species corresponds through its own seminal reason to its own Idea and oftentimes through this reason it can easily receive something from the Idea since indeed it was made through the reason from the Idea. This is why, if at any time the species degenerates from its proper form, it can be formed again with the reason as the proximate intermediary and, through the Idea as intermediary, can then be easily reformed. And if in the proper manner you bring to bear on a species, or on some individual in it, many things which are dispersed but which conform to the same Idea, into this material thus suitably adapted you will soon draw a particular gift from the Idea, through the seminal reason of the soul.

Kindness is for fools. They want them to be treated with oil, soap, and caresses but they ought to be beaten with fists! In a duel you don’t count or measure the blows, you strike as you can. War is not made with charity, it is a struggle, a duel. If Our Lord were not terrible he would not have given an example in this too. See how he treated the Philistines, the sowers of error, the wolves in sheep’s clothing, the traitors in the temple. He scourged them with whips!

In truth, the One (道 — Tao) is, and is not. It is not, and yet it is not the case to say that it is not. Lao-tzu says that it waxes and wanes in order to emphasize that the One is not separate from things, nor are things separate from the One. Outside of the One there is no being. And outside of being there is no One.

- Ch’eng Hsuan-Ying, Laozi Daodejing Yishu, commentary on Chapter XXI of Lao-tzu’s Tao Te Ching.

Therefore, the being of the One must also be, without being identical with the One; otherwise, that being would not belong to the One, nor would the latter—that is, the One—participate in being. Rather, it would be the same thing to say that ‘the One is’ and that ‘the One is one.’

Moment by moment, [the Captain] educated and transformed them through every means possible. With his words, his actions, and through the example of his own life, he turned the legionaries into new men, with a different way of seeing the world, heroes of their faith, and apostles of this new religion. They all bear the mark of the Captain's personality. He transformed them. He made the weak courageous, the hesitant confident. He showed the lost the right path. He brought those with empty dreams back to Romanian reality. He restrained the ambitious and blocked the path of those with opportunistic desires. He increased the zeal of the good and gave them all a new infusion of life, uniting them through the camaraderie of the legion, the cement with which the reinforced concrete of the victorious soul is prepared. In terms of education and spiritual transformation, the Captain, in everything he has accomplished so far, ranks among the great reformers.

"Lastly, after essential heroes, an order of souls follows, who proximately govern the affairs of men, and are dæmoniacal according to habitude or alliance, but not essentially. These souls likewise are the perpetual attendants of the Gods, but they have not an essence wholly superior to man. Of this kind, as we are informed by Proclus in his MS. Scholia on the Cratylus, are the Nymphs that sympathize with waters, Pans with the feet of goats and the like. They also differ from those powers that are essentially of a dæmoniacal characteristic in this, that they assume a variety of shapes (each of the others immutably preserving one form) are subject to various passions, and are the causes of every kind of deception to mankind. Proclus likewise observes, that the Minerva which so often appeared to Ulysses and Telemachus belonged to this order of souls."
—Thomas Taylor, Proclus' Platonic Theology, Book VII, Chapter XLV

"They employ, however, terrestrial and partial spirits in the generations of some of the human race, not physically mingling with mortals, but moving nature, perfecting its power, expanding the path of generation, and removing all impediments. Fables, therefore, through the similitude of appellation conceal the things themselves. For spirits of this kind are similarly denominated with the Gods, the leading causes of their series. Hence they say, either that Gods have connexion with women, or men with Goddesses. But if they were willing to speak plainly and clearly, they would say that Venus, Mars, Thetis, and the other divinities, produce their respective series, beginning from on high, as far as to the last of things; each of which series comprehends in itself many essences differing from each other; such as the angelical, dæmoniacal, heroical, nymphical, and the like. The lowest powers, therefore, of these orders, have much communion with the human race; for the extremities of first are connascent with the summits of secondary natures."
—Thomas Taylor, Proclus' Platonic Theology, Book VII, Chapter XLVI

"On this account it is frequently seen that from the mixture of these powers with men heroes are generated, who appear to possess a certain prerogative above human nature. Not only a dæmoniacal genus, however, of this kind, physically sympathizes with men, but a different genus sympathizes with other animals, as Nymphs with trees, others with fountains, and others with stags, or serpents."

In Ennead IV, 3, 17, Plotinus presents an intriguing image. In it, the supreme principle is considered a center. Around it lies a circle of light, generated from its splendor. Around that circle, as if emanating from it, lies another circle of light, “light of light,” he writes. Finally, there is a last circle, without light of its own. The center, generator of all things, is called by Plotinus the One, the Good, or God, though no name suits it, for it stands above all things and is absolutely simple. The circle of light that proceeds from it is the Intellect, which is, at once, the totality of intelligible ideas and the intelligence that thinks them. The second circle is the Soul, which proceeds from the Intellect. Finally, the last of the circles, which possesses no light of its own and therefore does not generate a further circle, is the sensible world.
